Before you call
A load is priced and planned from a short list. Have it ready.
When a carrier is waiting on you, the dispatcher gives an arrival estimate on the call. A planned load is booked for a set day.
Tool box towing
A loaded jobsite box is heavy and top-heavy, so it is lifted, never dragged. We move steel job boxes and gang boxes, rolling mechanic’s cabinets and site storage chests, loaded or empty, to the next site, the shop or the yard.
A box is lifted only at its rated forklift pockets or lift eyes, never by the lid or a handle. If there is a forklift on site, it sets the box on the deck. If not, the box is winched on.
Casters are locked and the drawers latched, and the cabinet rides strapped upright so nothing slides.
A box packed past what can be lifted safely may need to be partly emptied first. The dispatcher tells you on the call, before a truck is sent.
Per box, by size class, up to four boxes a trip, plus loaded miles. The calculator counts them for you.
Engines
An engine is freight, so the first question is how it loads, not what it weighs. A crate engine on its pallet moves by pallet jack or forklift once the pallet and banding are checked. A loose block with a forklift on site gets a pallet and strapping from us. With nothing to lift it at either end, it is winched up the deck at a controlled angle.
Oil and coolant come out before an engine rides; a sealed new crate engine ships as the maker packed it. Chain goes on cast iron at rated points, and machined or aluminum surfaces get padded straps.
